Vahterus heat exchangers are fully tailor-made solutions.
Each unit is individually designed to meet the specific requirements of the customer and the process. The design begins with a thermal calculation to determine the required heat transfer surface. This is then combined with the shell design.

Fully Welded
The core of the Vahterus Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger is a fully welded plate pack enclosed in a robust shell structure, eliminating the need for gaskets. This construction withstands extremely high pressures, stress variations, and thermal shocks. Like the plate pack, the shell is also fully welded. However, the plate pack and shell are not welded to each other, allowing them to freely expand and contract with temperature changes. The plate pack consists of round plates, ensuring uniform stress distribution.
The structural properties of our fully welded heat exchangers make them durable, low-maintenance, and energy-efficient. PSHE units are also 60 to 70% smaller and lighter than traditional shell & tube heat exchangers, making them easy to transport and install. They are ideal for locations with weight restrictions and require no additional support structures.
The majority of the heat exchangers we supply are of the fully welded type.
Openable Version
The openable version of the Vahterus Plate & Shell Heat Exchanger offers added flexibility by allowing the plate pack to be removed from the housing for inspection or mechanical cleaning. This is made possible by a flanged and bolted housing. The cassette-type plate pack enables quick and easy disassembly and assembly, minimizing downtime.
When choosing this design, the customer's process knowledge and experience are crucial. The design takes fouling into account, and we can provide customized, efficient cleaning systems, even for the harshest conditions. The extendable model provides extra access for cleaning, with the plate pack specially designed to withstand severe fouling.
