Multi-Condensor

Desuperheater, condenser, and subcooler combined in one device!

Industrial refrigerationcontractors provide the best solutions for sustainable heat pumps. Thanks to their extensive knowledge of natural refrigerants and access to compressors with large capacities, they are able to deliver reliable systems with a high COP (Coefficient of Performance).

Vahterus Multi-Condensor

Specially developed for heat pumps: a desuperheater, condenser, and subcooler combined in one compact device!

Why choose the Multi-Condenser?

  • Lower investment costs

  • Compact dimensions

  • Less installation work

  • Improved COP (Coefficient of Performance)

  • Available in various materials

Operating principle

The Multi-Condenser is installed after the compressor and oil separator in refrigeration or heat pump systems. For safe operation and longer compressor life, it is essential that condensate does not flow back to the compressor through the discharge line. Therefore, the connection must always be made as a reversed U-bend. The oil separation must be sufficient to prevent excess oil from reaching the condenser.

The Multi-Condenser combines three functions in one device:

  • Desuperheater: The hot gas from the compressor flows via the oil separator to the first part of the heat exchanger, where the superheat is removed.

  • Condenser: The gas, now nearly saturated, flows to the largest part of the plate pack where it condenses. The condensate is discharged to the subcooler.

  • Subcooler: Subcooling takes place here by maintaining the liquid level at least halfway up the connection. The subcooled liquid then flows to the expansion valve.

The flow on the cold (water) side is usually counterflow and divided over multiple passes for optimal heat transfer.

Level control

For optimal level control in the combined condenser, precise level measurement and a fast-acting expansion valve are essential. Wijbenga offers suitable and reliable solutions for accurate control with products from RTK.
